Product Description

Buy authentic Flashforge PLA Metal 3D printing filament in Nigeria and Ghana. Infused with real metal powder for heavy metallic shine. Official distributor support from Generative CAD.
Elevate your 3D models from standard plastic to realistic metallic artwork with Flashforge PLA Metal Filament. Formulated by compounding premium standard PLA resin with finely milled, real metal powders (such as Aluminum, Bronze, and Copper), this specialty filament delivers an authentic metallic luster, increased weight, and cool-to-the-touch surface texture. Because it retains standard PLA's low thermal shrinkage, it prints without warp on unenclosed machines while giving finished parts the heft and sheen of cast metal. It is the ultimate choice for rapid visual prototyping, architectural hardware models, props, sculptures, and decorative hardware across West Africa.

Why Choose Flashforge PLA Metal Filament?
Standard silk or metallic-colored PLAs only rely on plastic dyes to mimic sheen. Flashforge PLA Metal uses real physical metal particles within the matrix. This opens up post-processing opportunities: printed parts can be sanded, tumbled, wire-brushed, or polished using brass/aluminum polishes to reveal an authentic, gleaming metallic finish. Whether you are producing display prototypes for clients in Lagos or crafting custom hardware in Accra, this filament gives your models a premium, heavy-in-hand feel without requiring expensive metal casting equipment.

Core Features & Benefits
Authentic Metal Appearance & Weight: Infused with real metal powders to give your prints genuine metallic shine and a substantially heavier heft than standard PLA.

Post-Processable Luster: Can be wet-sanded, polished, or buffed with metal polish to create a mirror-like sheen or aged patina.

Warp-Free Printing: Low thermal expansion coefficient ensures excellent bed adhesion without requiring a heated enclosure.

High-Speed Flow Capable: Smooth polymer carrier supports printing speeds from 60mm/s up to 250mm/s on modern CoreXY motion systems.

Eco-Friendly Base: Standard PLA base material ensures low odor and zero toxic fumes during production.

Product Maintenance

Because metal powder particles are dispersed throughout the filament matrix, special handling is required:

Nozzle Requirement (Crucial): Never use a standard brass nozzle. Metal-filled PLA is highly abrasive and will enlarge a brass nozzle orifice within hours. Always install a 0.6mm or 0.8mm Hardened Steel Nozzle. The wider diameter also drastically reduces potential particle clogs.

Storage & Moisture Control: Store unused filament in a sealed bag or dry box with desiccant. Wet filament can lead to brittle extrusion and steam popping during high-temp printing.

Gentle Spool Feeding: Metal-filled filaments are stiffer and more brittle on the spool than standard PLA. Avoid sharp bend angles in your PTFE guide tubes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Does this filament conduct electricity or function as solid metal?

Answer: No. Although it contains real metal powder, the metal particles are isolated within a polymer PLA matrix. The printed part is non-conductive, does not attract magnets (in aluminum/bronze variants), and does not possess the structural yield strength of solid cast metal.

Question: Can I print this using a standard 0.4mm brass nozzle?

Answer: It is strongly discouraged. Brass is far softer than metal powder particles; the filament will act like sandpaper, wearing out a 0.4mm brass nozzle rapidly and causing severe flow inconsistencies and frequent clogs. Use a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle for smooth throughput.

Question: How do I polish the prints after printing?

Answer: Start by wet-sanding the printed object using progressively fine sandpaper (400 grit up to 2000 grit) to remove layer lines and expose the embedded metal particles. Follow up with steel wool or a polishing wheel using a standard liquid metal polish (like Brasso or fine polishing paste) to bring out a mirror-like shine.
